Stamford Bridge is a pretty, busy village on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds and is famous for the battle that took place there in 1066, between King Harold and the viking invaders. Harold won this battle but then his army had to march south to fight again at Hastings, where things didn't go so well... |

Sledmere is a well kept village, purpose built to serve the stately home & and its substantial lands around. The road across the northern Wolds that joins the two is an absolute pleasure to drive on & is popular with motorcycle clubs. |
