Rutland
is Britain's smallest county but its a little gem for a Clues To Go
route. A combination of history and beautiful countryside, as you
circle Rutland Water from one historic town, Oakham, to another, Uppingham.
By
Oakham buttercross the old stocks for some reason have five leg holes!
Both
Oakham & Uppingham boast fine & ancient public schools.
Much
of the village of Normanton has disappeared under Rutland Water
reservoir. What remains of the old church sits close by the water's edge.
Several
nature reserves and a butterfly farm surround Rutland Water. Near
Exton there's an Owl & Falconry centre.
