North Yorkshire Moors - Farndale |

Leaving Gilamoor you move on to the moors & Farndale. There are no questions to be answered in Farndale itself, so you can instead admire the beautiful scenery as you negotiate the narrow road, before descending back into picturesque Hutton Le Hole, with its workforce of woolly, grass lawn cutters! You then ascend over the moor top and drop in to Rosedale Abbey village before moving on to Cropton (a village with its own brewery). |

You finish this route in Pickering, home of the North Yorkshire Moors steam railway. The route is mainly on B roads, often very narrow, and occassionally uneven. It involves several stopovers where you will need to park the car and take a walk around a village. Market days can be busy for Kirkbymoorside and Pickering. Hutton Le Hole is very popular on summer weekends. It is recommended that you allow the best part of a day for this route if you really want to take in the scenery as well. |
