North Yorkshire Moors -Farndale

Starting in Kirkby Moorside & finishing in Pickering, this tour of a southern section of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park takes in some pretty villages, dramatic scenery, with a Roman Camp thrown in as a bonus.

North Yorkshire Moors -Abbeys

Helmsley to Oswaldkirk, via Rievaulx, Byland, Sutton Bank, and Ampleforth. On the way, you may wish to stop off at Rievaulx or Byland Abbeys. Also, the top of Sutton Bank is worth a diversion, with some beautiful walks with views across the Vale of York.

North Yorkshire Moors Rail Trail

Starting at Goathland, on the North Yorkshire Moors, this short hike follows a section of the old North Yorkshire Moors Railway via Beck Hole to Grosmont Station.

This route has been updated (May 2004) & re-written with young families in mind.

The Northern Moors (Stokesley to Egton Bridge)

Starting from Stokesley, on the river Leven and in view of the northern Yorkshire moors, you cross the A172 and lose yourself down the winding roads of an area that is sometimes wild, forbidding moorland and then suddenly a tranquil, sheltered dale. This route finishes in a very quiet corner of the national park, Egton Bridge. In between, visit Kirkby, Gt. Broughton, Ingleby Greenhow, Battersby, Kildale, Commondale, Castleton, Danby, Lealholm and Glaisdale.
