Starting in the brewing town of Tadcaster, on the A64 between Leeds and York, this route meanders through villages, ancient and modern, spread across the Vale of York. Taking in the market town of Selby on the way, you will visit the site of the bloodiest battle on English soil, proud Yorkshire mining villages, ancient settlements on the old Great North Road, but in particular, visit some of the most beautiful, hidden gems of Christian history in the British Isles. |

Vale of Mowbray (Ripon, Masham, Bedale, Northallerton) |

This drive starts at Ripon, and tours the Vale of Mowbray (sitting between the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors), via Masham, Bedale and finishing at Northallerton. Gently rolling farmland, narrow country lanes, small farming hamlets, a famous brewing town, a cathedral town. Another charming part of the county to lose yourself in for an afternoon or more. |

Vale of York - Northerly (Knaresborough to Thirsk) |

Start in Knaresborough. Finish in Thirsk. Both towns make pleasant stopovers for lunch or tea and Knaresborough, particularly, is worth exploring at leasure. A mystery tour, the route is divided into three sections, which need to be worked out from the clues given. It takes you through backroads lying in the shadow of the Hambleton Hills. |

The starting point is Stamford Bridge, east of York on the A166. The route winds through villages south east of York, taking in rich, rolling farm lands and ancient towns. This is a VERY CRYPTIC challenge. There isn't even a map to show you the way. Take your own road map and work out the route from the clues given. Then answer the questions along the way. |
